Construction Update

The construction of the new library is almost finished and furniture has begun to be moved in. Library Services and Smith Library will be closed after December 15 so we can be moved into and set up in the Trible Library.
The Trible Library will open on January 20, 2008.
The top left picture is from the second floor lounge area looking down on the main entrance. The top right picture is of the Summerville Reading Room. The bottom left picture is of the reference computer area. The bottom right picture is of the new Einstein’s Cafe counter.

Renovated Smith Library Reopens

The new carpet is in, the shelves are up, the boxes are unpacked, and the Smith Library is once again open, as of August 20. There is a new arrangement of the books and journals, which should make both easier to find. If you can’t find something, please ask us. Check the library web page for hours.

Construction continues on the new library. Check back for updates as we get closer to opening the new library.

Construction Update

Construction of the new library continues with hopes of a late Fall opening. These are two pictures from a recent peek inside - use your imagination, it will be beautiful when all is finished. The first is taken from the second floor facing the main entrance, overlooking the rotunda, and the second is of a Quiet Reading Room with vaulted ceilings on the second floor, facing the Avenue of the Arts.

Construction Update

In the first picture, taken from in front of Wingfield, you can see a new roof and front is being constructed over the old Captain John Smith Library front entrance. This joins the new and old parts of the library and helps the two look similar. In the second picture, taken from the David Student Union, you can see the front entrance of the new library continues to progress.
